before we talk about how awesome Fields of Faith was last night, lets meet another one of our seniors who has a birthday today… its AVALA ELWOOD from Providence!
Avala is quite the athlete as captain of the Providence tennis team, co-captain of the track and field team and she plays beach volleyball. her love for tennis started when she used to sit in the ball basket while her dad coached, and she has been playing beach volleyball since she could walk under the net without ducking! she has been an FCA leader at Providence for 2 years. Avala’s favorite dessert is ice cream and her favorite show to watch as a child was I Love Lucy! Avala’s top choice for college is Westmont. we’re so thankful for her dedication to FCA on her campus! make sure you wish Avala a very happy 18th birthday today!
Avala’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31🫶🏼 (but she also loves 1 Corinthians 13!)
“but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
huge shoutout to this senior on his BIRTHDAY!!!!! this is KAINOA GLASGOW from Carpinteria High School!
Kainoa is captain of the varsity basketball team and he has been playing basketball since he could walk. (a fun fact is that he got his first hoop for his second birthday!!) 🏀 this is his third year serving as an FCA leader at Carp High. Kainoa’s favorite movie theater snack is cherry sours or mike n ikes and something he hasn’t done but would really like to do is travel outside of the country. after graduation Kainoa will go on to play collegiate basketball and pursue a kinesiology degree. we’re grateful for his willingness to be bold and lead at CHS! make sure you send him some 18th birthday love today!
Kainoa’s favorite verse is Ephesians 2:8-10🙌🏻
“for by grace you have been saved through faith. and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
our next senior is….
STEPHANIE RAMIREZ from Carpinteria High School!
Steph has been playing tennis & basketball all throughout high school & this will be her 3rd year as an FCA leader at CHS. Larry the Cucumber is her favorite character from veggie tales, and her dream vacation destination is Greece or Rome. Steph plans to attend a 4-year university to begin her journey of becoming a nurse after high school. we’re so blessed to have her on our student leadership team!
Stephanie’s favorite verse is Romans 5:19🤍
“for as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.”
we have some super special SENIORS on our high school campuses this year and we want you to meet a few of them!
up first we have ….
NOE PIÑA DUARTE from Dos Pueblos High School!
Noe is a senior on the soccer team at DP and he is also playing as Captain with Legendary Futbol Academy! ⚽️⚽️ he’s been playing soccer for about 11 years & this is his first year serving as an FCA leader. his favorite pizza topping is pepperoni and if he could travel anywhere in the world he would go to Tokyo. after graduation Noe plans to play collegiate soccer. we’re so thankful for his leadership!
Noe’s favorite verse is Psalm 118:6🙌🏻
“the Lord is on my side; I will not fear. what can man do to me?”
we had a great time in Ojai at the 2022 Leader Retreat with our Ventura County family! it was so sweet to worship, learn and grow together before this next semester. praise God for all He is doing and will do through these FCA leaders on their campuses this year.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5 🤍
4th of July beach workout this morning!🇺🇸 This could be you next Monday!
“What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
