Jared grew up in Santa Barbara, California in a Christian home with his mom and dad, 2 older brothers, and a twin brother. He played soccer at San Marcos High School, as well as with the local club – Santa Barbara Soccer Club. He was inspired to pursue a life of soccer by his dad, the head coach at UCSB, and brothers who all played at the collegiate or professional level. Jared followed his passion and played at UC Santa Barbara, until he was sidelined due to a lingering foot injury during his sophomore year, which prompted his faith journey.
Over the next two years at UCSB, Jared centered his life around Christ and grew in his love for the Lord and serving the community. He got plugged back in at Community Covenant Church of Goleta, and began volunteering in college and youth ministry. He developed a heart for sharing the Gospel with teammates, friends, and UCSB students as a whole. He especially recognizes the mental challenges that athletes face in competing to be the best, and is excited to meet them where they’re at, and walk alongside them in their faith.
In addition to soccer, Jared is graduating UCSB with a degree in Economics, and a certificate in Technology Management. He loves playing the guitar, talking about leadership, playing sports, and grabbing lunch with friends. He is looking forward to joining the FCA staff and helping athletes to discover the fullness of a life with Christ.
